Girl Up Southeast Texas Regional Summit 2019
On March 23rd, we held our second annual regional summit at Ridge Point High School! With over 130 attendees, we engaged an exciting day full of advocacy, art, and fun! With incredible speakers and inspiring workshops, we got to learn from the true embodiments of powerful women as well as become empowered to take on the world, putting action to words. We had an incredible time with all these amazing girls and allies, and we can’t wait until next year. Girls are more then the future, they are NOW, and that is more evident that ever! We are forever #GirlPowered
Guest Speakers
Our speakers this year included Former Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, who gave us insight into how political office can be used as a tool for change, Shelmina Babai Abji, a global empowerment speaker and a former IBM Vice President, who taught us to transcend our fear and define it in a way that allows us to grow into our fullest potential, and Monica Mehta, financial journalist and author, who reminds us of the history of women in power and that we must persist in this fight for equality.
