IN PERSON: The Beacon of Downtown Houston

The Beacon of Downtown Houston is a collection of different programs designed to assist Houston's homeless population.  Our success is driven through our three core programs: The Ardell Ray Day Center, Brigid's Hope at The Beacon, and Beacon Law. These three programs come together under one roof to provide meals, showers, laundry service, pro bono legal services and pastoral care to our neighbors in need. The Beacon is also how to the main coordinated access hub/The Way Home program which is the entry point for supportive housing to Houston's Homeless.

As our normal operations have shifted due to the COVID-19 crisis, so our immediate need is for volunteers to support our sack lunch operations!    Volunteers will assist in making and assembling sack lunches that are given to clients.

Prior to signing up, in compliance with the CDC and Harris County Health, we ask you to adhere to the following:

1.  If you are sick, DO NOT volunteer

2.  If you have any underlying conditions, please consider opportunities to support organizations that are utilizing "virtual or remote" volunteer opportunities.   Your health and the health of our clients is extremely important, and we don't want to put anyone at risk

3.  Please adhere to all "safe" practices while volunteering, which include washing your hands for 20 seconds and maintaining a safe distance from other volunteers.

Please note that all volunteers will be screened at check-in with a series of questions to ensure you're safe to volunteer!
